Technical Area Lead - Electrical


Electrical Lead is responsible for managing the electrical department personnel.? Lead will give guidance to team members with daily assignments and direction.? Focus on implementing World Class Maintenance programs including driving preventative maintenance, central store initiatives, and predictive technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with Quad/Graphics? safety rules, policies and procedures

  • Successfully complete all required safety and environmental training in order to perform the job in a safe manner

  • Develop daily tasks lists and agendas for electrical employees

  • Work with Leads/Planner to identify required scheduled maintenance and predictive maintenance so labor can be properly allocated.

  • Develop employees competency thru mentoring and training

  • Manage and work on R&D projects to make equipment more reliable

  • Follow up on electrical maintenance activities and promote accountability

  • Identify means of improving maintenance programs such as identifying opportunities for preventative maintenance tasks

  • Utilize the MC system and other Smart Tools to:

    1. Make educated maintenance decisions

    2. Determine department strategies

    3. Drive electrical preventative maintenance program

  • Implement procedures and systems to maximize departmental efficiency

  • Be available for addressing issues on off shift hours, reaching out to help chain, and following up on issues and communicating status updates to plant team.

  • Drive department improvements and opportunities

Preferred Electrical Competencies


Electrical Maintenance ? Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace the following items:? power distribution and lighting systems up to 480 volts.? High voltage substations up to 26,000 volts; industrial machinery and production equipment such as motors and transformers, electronic controls, motor controls, and drives, burners, PLC logic systems, material handling equipment (finishing, distribution and prepress equipment).


Electrical Construction ? Panel building, installation of conduit and wiring for power distribution and lighting, installation of conduit and wiring for machine controls. Layout, planning and installation of control systems including programmable controllers, drives, Servo systems, installation of communication systems and data systems.


Electrical Safety ?Thorough knowledge of the NEC, high voltage training, including proper use of PPE, safe use of hand tools, power tools, electrical and electronic test equipment. Completion of company required safety training including but not limited to LOTO, scissors and boom lift, fork truck, fire extinguisher.? Demonstrate a proactive approach in creating and maintaining a safe and clean working environment at all times.? Support and promote corporate and departmental safety goals and initiatives at all times.


Education and Experience

  • Has industrial electrical?experience

  • Master/Journeyman desired but not a requirement?

  • Knowledge of the plant, equipment, and operations ?

  • Proficient in relevant software applications (smartools)

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs

  • Competent trouble shooting skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
